Wildlife Week, 2019
Workshops at Don Bosco International School and Shishuvan School
The Wildlife Week is celebrated across India from October 02 - 08, 2019. This week marks the upsurge of various events and activities, majorly targeted towards the school children and young adults. It witnesses the awareness events sensitizing people towards the treatment of animals and their habitat by the wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists.
ENVIS-BNHS had adorned this day with the printing of the Wildlife Week banner on eco-friendly paper instead of the environment pollutant PVC Flex. It had also conducted workshops on 03/10/2019 at two schools; Don Bosco International School (DBIS) and Shishuvan School, Matunga, Dist: Mumbai, Maharashtra. The event was witnessed by approximately 150 students.

The workshop had commenced at the Don Bosco International School, Matunga, along with the assistance of Ms. Sushmita Karmakar [Information Officer, ENVIS-BNHS], Mr. Omkar Kakade [IT Officer, ENVIS-BNHS], Ms. Manasi Wardhe [Volunteer BNHS] and Ms. Katie Bagli, the famous author of Children Books.

Ms. Sushmita Karmakar had given a warm welcome to all. She had then proceeded with the presentation on Wildlife Week. The audience was familiarised with the Indian Wildlife, benefits of wildlife, threats to them and the ways we can protect and conserve them. They were also taught the help they can extend towards wildlife conservation in their own small ways. The students had been adequately informed and allowed to put forth their queries for clarification. Later on Ms. Katie Bagli had conducted her Story-Telling session.
A similar event was also conducted at the Shishuvan School, Matunga. The children had thoroughly enjoyed the session. Their queries were cleared and they were also encouraged to share their views. The school managements had appreciated this initiative and had assured to engage the students in more environment friendly behaviour.
