Migratory Movement of Waterbirds through Uttar Pradesh and the Surveillance of Avian Diseases

OBJECTIVES:

 

¨1) To monitor population changes, productivity & turnover of the migratory birds – BIRD CENSUS

2) To investigate movement & dispersal patterns of short & long distance migrants – BIRD RINGING & COLOUR BANDING

3) To carry out biometrics of birds

¨4) To investigate breeding origins of migratory birds – SATELLITE  TELEMETRY.

¨5) To assess the role and current status of select wetlands & their importance to migratory birds – Long-term monitoring

6)  To undertake active surveillance for detection of LPAIV & HPAIV strains – SERUM & SWAB ANALYSIS, HSADL- BHOPAL

7) To identify threats to waterfowl habitat

8) To provide training on bird population studies
